Stacey Wattenbarger is undeniably one such luminary, a passionate artist who found solace, inspiration, and a thriving avenue for her creativity through Cricut’s Contributing Artist Program.
In this insightful Q&A session, we delve into the heart of Stacey’s artistic journey, exploring the roots of her creative drive, the significance of her connection with Cricut, and the profound impact of her craft on her life.
How did you find Cricut, and why did you decide to join the Contributing Artist Program?
I found out soon after the program began and immediately reached out to learn how to participate; I wanted to join because I love Cricut.
Where did your artistic journey begin?
I have delved into various mediums throughout my life. My latest journey began when I got a Cricut as an early gift for Christmas in 2018. I was excited to be able to make custom gifts for my family. In January 2019, my daughter, Betty, passed away unexpectedly. To get me through, I began designing. I would wake up and design all day until it was time for bed. I did this nonstop for a very long time. Cricut played a big part in my journey through my grief.
What does creativity mean to you?
Creativity is a means to express my feelings and who I am; I can put my heart and soul into my work and share it with the community. Being creative is very much part of who I am.
Who or what inspires you to create, and why?
My daughter, Betty, has inspired me to create. She has been with me every step of the way through my journey.
What is your favorite type of craft?
I love designing many different things. But one of my favorite things to do is draw flowers. I enjoy using my Apple Pencil to create hand-drawn art that I can then convert into a cut file and share.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment by far is being a part of the Cricut Artist Program. Having the opportunity to be part of the Cricut family has been an honor.
What is your favorite family tradition?
Every year on Christmas morning, I make red and green pancakes. This started after I had them at school in the 4th grade; my mother began making them for me afterward. I have carried on that tradition with my daughters.
What is your favorite Cricut product?
The Maker 3 is by far my favorite Cricut product. The machine allows you to do almost anything you can imagine.
